Z2109: R.A.F. Sheepskin Jacket
Manufactured following the 1938 Irvin Airchute Co. pattern, this jacket was a hero of the Battle of Britain. English fighter pilots wore this
superb garment while fighting off Nazi bombers over London in their Spitfire fighters. This had to be a warm but yet free moving garment
to let pilots and aircrew perform their duties in the confined space of their aircraft. It uses hand cut supple sheepskin pelts. Original
details include zippered cuffs, leather welting on seams, leather belt closures underarm grommets, an inside canvas equipment pouch and
a full front zipper over storm flap. Hand warmer side entry pockets are a modern convenience that we have added to complete the jacket.
