"With almost military precision, the leather flight jacket has navigated back into the menswear trend cycle. Dating to 1917, the bomber was sported by WW1 and WW2 fighter pilots, who staved off high-altitude chills in sturdy designs. In recent months the classic, knit-cuff style has popped up on runways and red carpets. Cockpit USA, the New York brand that has supplied the U.S. government with leather flight jackets since 1987, has seen sales grow by about 20% in the past year." - The Wall Street Journal (WSJ)
We are so proud to be recognized by the WSJ, featuring our WWII Government Issue A-2 Flight Jacket (Style # Z2107H) on Saturday/Sunday's Style and Fashion section of the paper. Our company was the first to launch these iconic jackets in the commercial market in 1976.
This Government Issue A-2 jacket was made famous by so many including Gen. Douglas MacArthur who wore his custom made horsehide A-2 into battle. This style is manufactured using military grade horsehide as originally specified in 1931. This version includes a snap down collar and under arm grommets just as the jackets issued in the 1930s-key details which show it is authentic to the period.
