Between January 31st and February 3rd in 1944, the Pacific campaign of WWII went into battle in the Marshall Islands with the United States launching two successful attacks against an under prepared and outnumbered Japanese side on the island of Kwajalein. Proving to be first victorious penetration of the outer regions of the Japanese Pacific sphere, this assault was a major triumphant step in the U.S. rally towards Japan.
