Master Plan of Manhattan

On exhibition until July 15th at the Museum of the City of New York is The Greatest Grid: Master Plan of Manhattan, 1811-2011. In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Commissioners’ Plan of 1811, which was the original documentation laying out Manhattan's iconic street grid system, the exhibit display includes an original hand-drawn map of New York's planned streets and avenues along with rare photographs, prints and maps. Charting the initial movements of the plan itself, the implementation and its evolution, The Greatest Grid captures a pivotal chunk of New York history and puts it, ironically, under one roof for your viewing pleasure.
