Movie Monday: The Big Red One
Set during 1942 through to 1945, The Big Red One is a war movie centered around a group of U.S. soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division, nicknamed The Big Red One after which the movie is named and their trials from Africa to Europe. Written and directed by veteran Samuel Fuller, much of the movie is inspired by his very own experiences of war and is regarded as a collage of loosely true stories, giving this movie depth and truth unattainable by other films. Starring the legendary Lee Marvin and Mark Hamill, The Big Red One is a gritty yet understated drama with a degree of honesty qualifying it as a true WWII cinematic great. Cockpit USA approved.
