Cockpit USA Culture Fix: New York Historical Society
Located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and home to over 1.6 million works of art including pieces by great American artists, Rembrandt Peale, Elie Nadelman and Eastman Johnson to name but a few, the New York Historical Society is a destination of importance for anyone who values the past triumphs of our country. Founded in 1804, the organization's exploration and presentation of the fascinating facets of the nation's, and more specifically New York's, historical and political fabric make up the mission which drives the society forward. With our keen interest in WWII and HQ in New York, we at Cockpit USA were delighted to discover the opening of a new exhibition entitled 'WWII and NYC'! An in depth and comprehensive presentation, the show comprises artifacts, documents and art works from the US Navy, the Smithsonian Institution, the Mariners’ Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among other institutions. This is one cultural event not to be missed!
