Originally created in 1985, this unique leather bomber flight jacket starred in the iconic “Top Gun” movie. In the interest of historical accuracy, we made changes to the style of this "Top Gun" movie jacket by adding a vintage rack stitch knit waistband, and no “USN” punched through the wind flap as the early model spec G-1 jackets did not have this. For authenticity, the leather and the patches have been treated with a special vintage treatment, giving it a worn in patina. Our custom process can include slight pilling on the knit cuffs and natural highs and low markings on the leather. Decorated with all 17 patches and the mil spec USN Anchor pin, this G-1 aviation jacket conforms to the "Top Gun" movie original and is an unsurpassed piece of naval and movie history. When a dream come through
"I've had this little big dream since I was a kid. I've always been passionate about aviation, spending days building planes from World War II to today. I was practically a child when, walking through Venice, I saw these jackets, then branded Avirex, for the first time in the window of a famous shop in Rialto, it was love at first sight. The only problem was that I couldn't afford to buy one. After so many years, the dream was still there. When I found out that Cockpit, the real producer of these magnificent jackets was still in production, so I always promised myself that if I returned to New York, I would buy one. . . Top Gun has always been my favorite movie, and so, even though the entire line of cockpit leather jackets is wonderful, the choice was dictated by the heart, and I wanted to try on a G-1 Jacket Z201036T (even though the G1 stealth is wonderful!!). First of all, I have to thank Stephanie. From the first contacts, she was always very kind and helpful, and then in the showroom, she did everything to help us, from choosing the model to the size. Stephanie made this purchase even more special. The Top Gun G1 has a sporty and very casual fit. As soon as you put it on, you feel its quality. It's an iconic jacket, yet incredibly wearable and truly cool. The leather is incredibly soft, I've never felt anything of such high quality. Even the collar is made of real sheepskin and is incredibly comfortable to wear. I've come across jackets from other manufacturers that reproduce the G1 or A2, but the quality and fit of these cockpit jackets are unmatched. Stephanie then helped us appreciate this jacket even more by showing us the details that have been faithfully reproduced compared to the original in the film. It's truly a small masterpiece made with so much passion and craftsmanship. I wanted to make this purchase even more special by taking a photo on the Intrepid in front of my beloved and iconic Tomcat. I know. . . I'm not the first, but for me it was a truly beautiful moment. There were other beautiful jackets on display, I really liked the Movie CWU-36/P jacket, it's a lightweight jacket that can be worn every day and once again Cockpit managed to do something unique even with this model that fits very well. Thanks again to Stephanie who went out of her way to get my correct size the morning of our departure, even arriving at work an hour early for us, we will always be grateful to her. I thank those who make these jackets and make us enthusiasts happy, they are masterpieces, I hope to be able to return to New York soon and have this wonderful experience again. "I received my Top Gun Navy G-1 Jacket today and I am incredibly pleased with it! The craftsmanship is amazing and it fit's perfectly. Back in 1986 when I was 17 years old I saw Top Gun in the theater. It brought me to love fighter aircraft and eventually I joined the military. It also began my love of motorcycles. At 54, I own a Kawasaki Ninja and I ride it often. This jacket has been a dream of mine since 1986. Back then, Myself and 2 other guys in my highschool wore flight jackets because we loved the movie so much. (see enclosed picture) I never thought that I would own such a beautiful piece of art. The thing that amazed me the most is that the USN pin even has a crooked N on it just like the original! Amazing detail!! I didn't even realize that the N was crooked until today. Actually, I was going to write you to have you send me an undamaged one. It was my brother who said "Maybe it's supposed to be that way. " So I checked the film and he was right. I was just floored! Thank you again for bringing such an iconic piece of film history to life and making a 54 year old feel 17 again. I hope you all have a wonderful year."

"Very comfortable jacket, because goatskin is very smooth. Nice for casual days, probably too much for office use because of patches. I wouldn’t suggest to buy it as first, it could seem a little bit too showy, unless you are a Top Gun fan. Size 42 suits very good for me, I am 188 cm (6’ 1), 82 kg (182 lb)."
