Our Liberaider Tee was inspired by the courageous 461st Bomb Group of the Fifteenth Air Force. Activated on July 1st, 1943, the 461st flew a total of 223 missions in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, over occupied Europe, and Nazi Germany. The group consisted of four Bomb Squadrons of B-24 Liberators, the 764th, the 765th, the 767th and the 768th. In 1944, despite flak, clouds, smoke, and fighter attacks the 461st group bombed its objective earning two Distinguished Unit Citations in Budapest, Hungary and Ploiesti, Romania.
