Extremely well made horsehide leather jacket. Being authentic in details it's sizing is different than I expected. At 5'8" and 172 lbs I had to go up to a size 44 to get enough room at the waist to close the jacket. In the 21st Century model of the A-2 a size 40 was a perfect fit for me. All around beautiful jacket, well worth extra cost to purchase. Being made in the USA is always the deciding factor.

I always wanted an A-2, but never got after it. This jacket has the right amount of fitting without being tight on an older fellow sporting a bit extra weight. The size guide was spot on. The horsehide has a worn look without a worn out appearance. Also, I like the authentic detailing of no hidden pockets to bury one’s hands. \nIf you are on the fence, get off and purchase this nice jacket. A G-1 is next for me though I could quit with this very easily.

This is the second Cockpit USA A-2 jacket I have ordered, and once again it is perfect for me. I can't say enough how happy I am with both of them since I have ordered 4 other A-2's from different major makers and while nice enough, this one is the nicest, best fitting , and best looking of them all. Well worth going through the sizing tool, it works. One came out as size 48 and another 50, but each one fits perfectly for me. They are slightly different so each one will need to be sized specifically but once you have the right size and receive your jacket I expect you will be very happy with your choice, I am !

So I’ll start off by saying this jacket feels almost bullet proof. The quality and thickness of the hide is 3X stiffer than my other goatskin G-1 from cockpit. The texture is rougher as well (almost like a seatbelt, smooth but grainy) definitely adds character to the jacket compared to other A2s. The fit is a little bit more on the modern side compared to other A2 contracts such as rough wear, with a longer torso and arms but for me a 230 lb 6 foot 2 guy the size 46 fit is perfect. The only complaint I have is the arm width, the A2 jacket is originally designed as a slimmer cut jacket for cockpits and this model has an awkward size cut into the arms. (You could see this as well in model photos) Standing up it’s not a big deal but sitting down, especially in a GA cockpit it bunches up and just feels awkward at best. Took mine to a tailor who could handle the thick leather sleeves and once it’s trimmed down about 2 inches it fits perfect! Definitely recommend getting this jacket for the color and texture of the leather but something to keep in mind.
